Just announced today at MAX 2009, we will be able to offer our clients the ability to develop native iPhone apps using the Flash platform from Adobe. This is extremely exciting news for the flash development community! You can find out more about it by visiting Adobe Labs. There is also a technical write up of how it all works here in an article by Aditya Bansod from Adobe. Among many other great enhancements coming to the flash platform such as AIR 2.0 which will allow for interaction with physical devices via the USB port on a computer, as well as the ability to launch external application such as Outlook and Excel, etc, from an AIR application. Adobe is just blurring the lines between desktop and web even more. There is another platform that allows web developers to develop native iPhone applications using their existing knowledge of web technologies. It is called Titanium, from the guys over at Appcelerator.
